Transfer Students
The Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program at Galatasaray University also accepts international students in accordance with the "Guidelines for the Admission of International or Foreign Students to Galatasaray University". The GSÜ-YÖSS, a ranking exam conducted in accordance with these guidelines, is organized annually by the GSÜ-YÖSS Commission to determine which international or foreign students will be admitted according to the quotas determined by the University Board of Directors. The GSÜ-YÖSS consists of verbal and quantitative questions and is administered once a year in two stages. Applicants to the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program are required to take the GSÜ-YÖSS Quantitative Sciences exam. Candidates are placed in an undergraduate program according to their GSÜ-YÖSS scores and preference rankings, within the limits of the determined quotas.
Transfers to undergraduate programs at Galatasaray University, both internal and external, and the necessary credit transfers during these transfers are carried out in accordance with the Regulation on Transfers Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions (Official Gazette, 24/04/2010, No: 27561). Transfers to the GSÜ Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program can be made in three different ways: 1) Lateral Transfer, 2) Vertical Transfer, and 3) Double Major Program.
Horizontal Transfers
Students wishing to transfer from a domestic higher education institution other than GSÜ must:
- Possess a DELF B2 certificate to prove sufficient French language proficiency or have scored at least 80 on the Foreign Language Proficiency Level Determination Exam (YDS) French exam conducted by ÖSYM,
- Have successfully completed all courses required by their program at their current higher education institution in the semesters prior to the application,
- Have a weighted grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 out of 4, and
- Be within the top 25,000 in the relevant field score type in the LYS exam.
Students wishing to transfer from a foreign higher education institution must:
- Possess a French Baccalaureate or DELF B2 certificate,
- Have successfully completed all courses required by their program at their current higher education institution in the semesters prior to the application, and
- Have a GPA of at least 12 out of 20.
For a student enrolled in a GSÜ undergraduate program to be eligible for a transfer, they must:
- Have successfully completed all courses required by their current program in the semesters prior to the application,
- Have a GPA of at least 2.75 out of 4, and
- Be within the top 25,000 in the relevant field score category in the LYS exam.
For the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program, only students from the Computer Engineering and Mathematics Departments can transfer to the 3rd semester; only students from the Computer Engineering Department can transfer to the 5th semester. Transfer quotas are given in Table 1.

Candidates wishing to transfer apply to the Student Affairs Office with a petition and the necessary documents demonstrating that they meet the application requirements. All applications are reviewed by the Lateral Transfer Committee, established by the Faculty Board and composed of faculty members. Students who meet the application requirements are selected for lateral transfer to the Industrial Engineering Department based on their academic ranking and within the available quota. Lateral transfers to the Faculty are finalized with the approval of the University Board of Directors.
The equivalency of courses taken by the transferring student in their previous program is carried out by the Equivalency Committee, established by the Faculty Board and composed of faculty members. As a result of the equivalency process, it may be decided, upon the proposal of the Equivalency Committee and the approval of the Faculty Board, that the transferring student be held responsible for certain courses. Furthermore, the time spent in the previous faculty is included in the maximum study period.
Vertical Transfers
Students who have graduated from Vocational Schools and gained the right to enroll in the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program through the Vertical Transfer Examination conducted by ÖSYM are subject to the provisions of the Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education of Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs (Official Gazette, 19/02/2002, No: 24676) and the Regulation Amending this Regulation (Official Gazette, 29/07/2011, No: 28009). The associate degree graduation fields of students who can transfer to the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program are given in Table 2. The vertical transfer quota determined for the department is one (1).
